Recent shows by Elon Television and Elon Student Television (ESTV) have earned honors from The Communicator Awards, an international competition.
“A Measure of Our Humanity,” a documentary about the AIDS/HIV crisis in the African nation of Namibia, earned the Crystal Award of Excellence, the first appٷվ show to earn the competition’s highest honor. Katrina Taylor, a 2004 graduate, served as director and producer on the project. Taylor worked closely with other students in Project Pericles at Elon, as well as Tom Arcaro, director of Project Pericles; Jay McMerty, senior video producer; and Bryan Baker, senior audio producer.
“Phoenix14News,” a weekly news program, earned an Award of Excellence. David Douglas and Jennifer Sposato led a team of student producers on the show.
The ESTV game show “Win Stuff” received an Award of Distinction. A team of student producers was led by Kim Hayes and Meghan Walsh.
Linda Lashendock, coordinator of Elon television, served as advisor for the winning ESTV shows.
“Phoenix Weekly,” a show about Elon athletics, received an Honorable Mention Award in the multi-media/streaming video category and the educational institutions/student produced category. Michael Livigne and J.P. Lavoie led a team of producers and multi-media developers on the show.
