The namesake of the university’s library died Monday in Charlotte, North Carolina, two days shy of her 87th birthday. A brief remembrance service takes place today in the Oak Grove lounge on the south end of the library’s first floor.

A Wednesday program in McKinnon Hall will offer the campus community reflections from ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë faculty and a current student from Ferguson, Missouri, about the recent police shooting death there of a young unarmed black man.

The first ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë Poll of the fall semester will ask residents of North Carolina about their opinions on various social, economic and political issues.

The professor of economics in the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business was formally recognized as the university's new Lincoln Financial Professor on Aug. 18, 2014, as part of an annual ceremony to open the academic year.
