Students brave the water in Polar Bear Plunge

A record-breaking number of ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë students leaped into the frigid water of Lake Mary Nell on Thursday in the 8th annual Polar Bear Plunge. Just shy of 150 students registered for the community event, with organizers awarding more than two dozen gift cards to area merchants and participants walking away with free T-shirts.

Josh Norris' passion for sports was why it didn't take the ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë senior long to visit Career Services last spring when he learned of a unique opportunity. With help from office staff, Norris polished his cover letter and resume, and just days later the senior communications major had landed a summer internship with the NFL's St. Louis Rams.

In an effort to support relationships with community partners, last week 25 non-profit leaders gathered on ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë's campus for the 20th pre-semester Preparing for Partnership session hosted by the Kernodle Center for Service Learning and Community Engagement and facilitated by Tammy Cobb, assistant director for community partnerships.
HOLD Johnson C. Smith University president to speak at MLK Jr. program – Jan. 13

Ronald L. Carter, president of Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, will be the keynote speaker on Jan. 13 at ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë’s annual MLK Jr. Commemorative Program, which honors the life of the slain civil rights leader. The Whitley Auditorium program, which was moved from Wednesday to Thursday due to inclement weather, begins at noon and is open to the public at no cost.

Alamance Foundation makes gift to Elon Academy
