Scott Livengood is the Chairman of the Board, CEO and President of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.

Under his leadership, Krispy Kreme has been transformed from a regional wholesale doughnut company to a nationally recognized and leading retailer of premium quality doughnuts. Today, Krispy Kreme produces approximately 7.5 million doughnuts a day and more than 2.7 billion doughnuts a year. Livengood came to Krispy Kreme as a human resources trainee in 1977. He became president in 1992, CEO in 1998 and chairman of the board in 1999. He has guided the company through its greatest period of expansion, developing markets across the U.S. with more than 380 stores, expanding into Canada, Mexico, Australia and the United Kingdom, and leading the company through an initial public offering in April 2000. In 2001, Livengood was named Executive of the Year by Restaurants & Institutions magazine.

Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and President of Raleigh-based software company Red Hat, Matthew Szulik has been a leading software executive for more than 20 years. He has become one of the most visible proponents of the open-source movement—the concept of distributing computer software in which the source code is freely available for others to view, amend and adapt—while positioning Linux software provider Red Hat to be the defining technology company of the 21st century. Since joining Raleigh, N.C.-based Red Hat in 1998, Szulik has led the company through successful public stock offerings in 1999 and 2000 and has helped Red Hat develop global partnerships with Oracle, IBM, Dell, Intel and HP to deliver open-source technology. Szulik was recognized by CIO Magazine in 2002 with its 20/20 Vision Award, which honors outstanding creators, marketers and practitioners of information technology.

The Greensboro Symphony’s season will end with a concert of great masterworks by Russian composers. Murray will perform Tchaikovsky’s Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D Major, Op. 35. The Concert will also include Lyadov’s Fary Tales for Orchestra. Murray has performed extensively as a soloist in the U.S. and Europe since making her debut at the age of eight.

Labyrinths have been used for centuries as tools for reflection, meditation and deep self-knowledge. this labyrinth is patterned after the one found in Chartres Cathedral in France. Unlike a maze, which has dead ends, a labyrinth provides a path to its center. Walking to the center of the labyrinth is like walking to the center of one’s self.
