Guatemalan graduate student Marco Saz visited ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë to immerse himself culturally in the United States and share his expertise on education with youth at risk with ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë students, faculty and staff.

Three Elon faculty members affiliated with the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning presented at the 41st annual conference of the POD Network in Higher Education held Nov. 9-13 in Louisville, Kentucky.

The associate professor of education and director of the Teaching Fellows program was involved in two different presentations at the NCTE Annual Convention in Atlanta, Georgia from Nov. 17-20.

Kathy Gallucci attended the National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT) Professional Development Conference in Denver, Colorado, Nov. 3-6, 2016.

Their presentation, “Co-Owners in Engaged Learning: Reimagining the Library/First-Year Writing Partnership as Community of Practice,” described the evolution of a model of library instruction for first-year writing students that simultaneously reflects and highlights the changing roles of librarians and their relationship to faculty. 

The first presentation was titled: Sport Success in Three Easy Steps and was offered on Nov. 11. The second presentation was titled: The Pleasure Principle: The Biochemistry of Choice and was offered on Nov. 12. 

Mat Gendle, professor of psychology, explored the potential connection in a recent article published in the peer-reviewed journal Medical Hypotheses. 

Jen Hamel, assistant professor of biology, presented on how biological community interactions affect mating behavior in insects.

The article explores the phenomenon of surface acting as a mediator between personality and work-related outcomes.
