What started as an academic exercise in a service learning class has transformed into a student-led community organization that has raised thousands of pounds of food for the hungry in Alamance County in just its first two months.

ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë students, faculty and staff took part Monday in the "Reading of the Names," a daylong effort on the front steps of Moseley Center that marked the start of Holocaust Remembrance Week on campus.

A strategic communications major teamed with the director of ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë's African & African-American Studies program to conduct undergraduate research into the portrayal of plus-sized black women in popular media.

Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, the first husband-wife team to win journalism’s highest honor, come to campus in October for Fall Convocation; acclaimed scientist and current “Cosmos” host Neil deGrasse Tyson to speak at Spring Convocation next April.

Colby Halligan secured the nation's premier academic award for students dedicated to careers in the environment, tribal public policy or Native American health care.

Donations from the Panhellenic Council benefited Allied Churches of Alamance County and were distributed with help from Campus Kitchen at ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë.
