Driven by a lifelong love of sports, Shaan Gandhi ’27 has turned passion into purpose through hands-on learning at Elon. With support from the Queen City Internship Grant, he gained real-world experience with the ACC while growing his sports business, SAG Autographs, and learning from mentors who inspire him to lead with drive and adaptability.

The assistant dean in the School of Communications co-authored two chapters for the Worlds of Journalism Study 3, examining journalists’ employment conditions and the state of journalism in Costa Rica.

At ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë Charlotte campus, Skylar Cook '28 is turning classroom lessons into real-world impact. Between her internship with the ACC and her research partnership with the Sports Business Journal, she’s building the skills and connections to launch a career in women’s sports.

Guided by curiosity and a passion for storytelling, Lillian Engel ’19 turned her love of editing at ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë into a thriving Hollywood career. From campus projects to major films like "Extraction" and "Joker: Folie à Deux," she embodies the power of hands-on learning, persistence and community.

During the annual conference, which drew 700 scholars and 1,400 students, the assistant dean in the School of Communications discussed the growing challenges facing public diplomacy professionals today.

At the nation’s largest college media convention, held this fall in Washington, D.C., Elon journalism students earned multiple honors recognizing their reporting and creative work.

The investigative reporter will visit the School of Communications to discuss his Pulitzer Center–supported series examining how vaccine misinformation fueled a devastating measles outbreak that claimed dozens of young lives.

Lily Barker ’25, a sport management major and former women’s volleyball player, collaborated with Assistant Professor Alex Traugutt on a study published in the Journal of Amateur Sport exploring what influences NCAA Division I volleyball match attendance. Their findings highlight the key roles of scheduling, opponent quality, and promotional efforts in attracting fans to games.
