It was the ultimate post-election trip for 10 students from the two journalism groups at ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë. The students from the Elon chapters of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) and the Radio & Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) toured major Washington, D.C., news outlets and other media sites the week before Thanksgiving. The media tour was sponsored by SPJ, RTNDA and the School of Communications.

Students who worked the front lines during Wilmington, North Carolina’s early switch to digital television are asking NBC president Jeff Zucker to interrupt the Super Bowl with a 30-second message from the Federal Communications Commission in the lead up to the nationwide transition on February 17, 2009.

The North Carolina Open Government Association will hold its board meeting from noon-2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë.

Tony Weaver, an assistant professor of leisure and sport management, has been appointed to the Professors Panel for the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA). 

ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë Commmunications students Shea Northcut and Laura Beth Ward were awarded a Harold Fellows Scholarship from the Broadcast Education Association this week.

The dean and two faculty members in the School of Communications have authored a chapter that appears in the 2009 edition of the book "Global Journalism: Topical Issues and Media Systems."

The work of ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë student Mitch Pittman is included in a student-only media Web site operated by Fox News called Palestra.net.
