This year's Global Neighborhood theme is Art Beyond Borders. The fall line-up of the annual GN Film Series features fanciful French film, fashion and culture as art, and provocative performance art.

Katherine Shafer ’15, an international studies major from Port Jefferson, N.Y., will spend 11 months teaching English in Taiwan as part of a federal program that promotes mutual goodwill between people of the United States and people of other nations. 

Erin Luther ‘16, an international studies and Spanish double major from Bristol, Tennessee, travels to South America next spring as part of a federal program that builds good will between the United States and people of other nations.

The awards program highlights and celebrates alumni who have graduated within the past decade and who are distinguished in their professions and invested in the future of Elon and its community.

ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë senior Alexandra “Allie” Barteldt and junior Benjamin Lutz have each received a Critical Language Scholarship from the federal government to study Hindi in Asia, and Arabic in Africa, respectively.

The honorees are alumni from the past decade who have achieved major professional success, serve as difference-makers in their communities, and loyally support Elon as partners, advocates and investors.

Co-authored by ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë's Laura Roselle, "Strategic Narratives: Communication Power and the New World Order" received the 2016 International Communication Book Award for having made "the most substantial impact in the area of international communication in the context of international studies."

ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë senior Alexandra Cantone authored a report on women's roles in countering violent extremism in Saudi Arabia as part of a summer internship at the Institute for Gulf Affairs, a Washington think tank to which she applied with help from faculty and the Student Professional Development Center.
