Students without cars on campus will find it much easier to volunteer this fall. The Kernodle Center for Service Learning is sponsoring Get on the Bus!, a weekly Friday afternoon service trip featuring transportation by Elon BioBus.

The Kernodle Center for Service Learning launched a new program Friday to help students explore volunteer opportunities available to them in Alamance County and surrounding areas. The “Get on the Bus” kick-off in the Moseley Center featured a ribbon cutting by ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë President Leo M. Lambert.

Tammy Cobb, assistant director for community partnerships at Elon, is one of 24 local volunteers serving as leaders of the 2009 United Way campaign in Alamance County.

The Kernodle Center for Service-Learning has launched its redesigned Web site to benefit students, faculty, staff and community partners participating in Elon's award-winning civic engagement programs.

Andi Cochran wanted to spend her final months before college investing in a worthwhile project, so when the incoming ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë freshman used her high school graduation money to buy toys for patients at Duke Children’s Hospital, she knew her actions represented more than a gift – they were a “thank you” to an institution that touched her own life.
