Led by faculty members David Bockino, Colin Donohue and Staci Saltz, 45 first-year Communications Fellows traveled to Charlotte in November, visiting WSOC-TV, Pillar4 Media and NASCAR’s headquarters, and connecting with alumni working in the Queen City.

More than a dozen members of Unity in Communications gathered on Nov. 18 for meaningful discussions with faculty and staff in the School of Communications.

Representatives from McKinney, Pace Communications and APCO Worldwide visited the award-winning, student-run communications agency to share insights and foster connections.

Ryan Harper ’25, Tess Hawthorne ’25 and Cierra Hopson ’25 lead the way as the first ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë students to earn Advanced Data Competency Badges from Data Nexus, showcasing their exceptional skills in data analysis, interpretation and application in the workforce.

ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë student newspaper, The Pendulum, also captured first place in the Liberty Awards for the best election print edition in collegiate journalism.

Current students, alumni and faculty gathered on Nov. 1 during Homecoming & Reunion Weekend to toast five decades of informing ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë campus community.

Students in Associate Professor Amanda Sturgill's Multiplatform News Editing class developed a website offering issue-based information on candidates in states where many ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë students are registered voters.

School of Communications faculty and staff members, as well as upperclassmen, gathered Oct. 21 to educate first-year students about the school’s academic programs, resources and opportunities.

The assistant professor of communication design’s research is featured in Human-Computer Interaction, a leading publication for research on the design, evaluation and implementation of interactive computing systems for human use.

The Department of Sport Management, in collaboration with the ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë in Charlotte program, Sport Management Society, and Women Influencers in Sport (WINS), hosted a Sept. 29 professional development event at the university’s Charlotte National Campus.
