Maynard, an ardent supporter of ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë, passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, at the age of 91.

Her ability throughout law school to balance several roles - student, mentor, prosecutorial intern, mother - earned Samantha Hepler L’23 the highest honor bestowed on a member of each graduating class from ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë School of Law.

McElderry, the dean of student inclusive excellence and an assistant professor at Elon, will become the first ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë staff member to be selected to lead the national association of student affairs professionals.

The professorship established by the late Elon alumnus and faculty member Wayne T. Moore ’49 and his wife, Elizabeth, will support the teaching and research of an emerging scholar in the arts, humanities or social sciences. The $500,000 gift honors Wayne's late brother, Fletcher Moore '34, a longtime music faculty member at Elon.

The board of trustees of the accrediting body informed President Connie Ledoux Book that the institution’s accreditation has been reaffirmed without recommendations or needed revisions.

Jack B. Hicks, a partner with the international law firm of Womble Bond Dickinson and a longtime friend of ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë School of Law, will highlight a December ceremony for 140 graduates in the Class of 2023.

The university was recognized for standing out within a pool of more than 700 schools for its sustainability-related policies, practices and programs.

ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë has once again been recognized by the Institute of International Education for the highest percentage rate of study abroad participation in the nation.

The work will require a portion of East Haggard Avenue through ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë campus to be closed to vehicular traffic on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Nov. 15 through Dec. 6. 

During a recent trip to Japan, members of a delegation from Elon participated in a range of experiences related to global engagement and digital life.
