Noel Lee Allen, a 1969 Elon alumnus whose distinguished legal career has won international accolades, received an honorary doctor of humane letters during ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë’s Convocation for Honors on March 31. The degree was conferred by President Leo M. Lambert and presented by John G. Sullivan, professor emeritus of philosophy.

President Leo M. Lambert, Love School of Business Dean Mary Gowan, five business students and other friends of the university sounded the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange on March 9 on a day when Wall Street celebrated Elon's academic achievements.

For the seventh year in a row, ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë is ranked among the nation's top colleges and universities by The Princeton Review. The 2010 college guide, released July 28, ranks schools based on a survey of 122,000 students from across the nation.

The National Society for Experiential Education has named ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë President Leo M. Lambert the winner of an inaugural award for his contributions to experiential education. Lambert, one of 29 nominees for the honor, will receive the William M. Burke Presidential Award for Excellence in Experiential Education this fall at the society’s annual conference in Dallas.

The Chronicle of Higher Education has recognized ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë in its 2009 “Great Colleges to Work For” program, which honors institutions for best practices and policies, such as faculty-administration relations, confidence in senior leadership, and compensation and benefits.

ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë will present a second concert with this summer's Eastern Music Festival on Monday, July 13, when guest conductor Chelsea Tipton leads EMF's two student orchestras in a lively pops concert on the lawn Under the Oaks. The music begins at 7:30 p.m.

The Holland House, a 4,000-square-foot brick building that once served as the official residence of two Elon presidents, will become the home of the new Catholic Newman Center at the university.

ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë leaders conferred degrees to MBA students in the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business on May 22, 2009, during a Commencement ceremony in Whitley Auditorium attended by faculty, staff, family and friends.

The Hearst Foundation named ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë senior Randy Gyllenhaal the best collegiate television journalist in the nation on June 6, 2009, at its annual awards ceremony in San Francisco.
