Experiential Learning
Internships
Internships help students apply sociological and anthropological knowledge in real-world settings while building practical skills, exploring career paths, and deepening their understanding of the discipline. Our majors have interned at the Burlington Housing Authority, the Family Justice Center of Alamance County, the Burlington Police Department, Sustainable Alamance, the Public Defender’s Office of Guilford County, and more.
Study Abroad
Many Sociology and Anthropology majors opt to study abroad, either for a full semester or for a winter term travel course. Our majors have studied in Copenhagen, Sorrento, London, Florence, Peru, and more. Anthropology majors interested in archaeology may also participate in the summer archaeology field school in Belize.
