Internships
Sociology and Anthropology Internships
Internships allow students to apply sociological and anthropological knowledge in professional and community settings while gaining practical experience and career preparation. There are two main types of internships our students pursue: Service internships and work/corporate internships.
Service Internships
Service-learning internships place students in community agencies, nonprofit organizations, and service-oriented programs that support individuals and communities in need.
Examples include:
- Homeless shelters
- Youth service organizations
- Family violence prevention programs
- Rape crisis centers
- Environmental organizations
- Housing organizations
- Food assistance programs
Service internships helps students connect classroom learning to real social issues while developing civic engagement, teamwork, organizational skills, and a commitment to responsible citizenship.
Work/Corporate Internships
These internships place students in businesses, government agencies, and other workplace settings where they can apply sociological and anthropological perspectives in real-world environments.
Examples include:
- Police departments
- Banks or investment firms
- Attorneys’ offices
- Summer camps or childcare centers
- Non-profit organizations
These experiences help students better understand workplace culture and organizational structure while building professional skills, gaining career experience, and exploring future employment opportunities.
