Maker Takeover 2023 – ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë Ultimate Celebration of Creativity!
Maker Takeover is the Maker Hub’s largest annual celebration that brings students, staff, and faculty together to showcase their creative projects.
Come join us at the Moseley Center to witness amazing student projects, engage in DIY crafts, treat yourself to some ice cream, experience our escape room, and more!

Over 40 Student-made Projects
Explore and get hands-on over 40 projects – from embroidery to woodworking to electronics, you’re sure to see something that will inspire you.

In addition, talk with Elon Kickboxers – these 11 students have spent the spring semester working with the Maker Hub to make significant progress on their idea. These makers are taking their passions, skills they’ve learned in the classroom, and a maker mindset to create innovative, helpful, or sustainable projects. Oak Originals at the Marketplace Oaks Pop-up
Browse items for sale from 15+ student vendors at the Oak Originals Pop-up event during the Maker Takeover! A proud partner with the Doherty Center for Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship, student vendors utilize the Maker Hub to help build their brands, prototype their ideas, and create products to sell.
Experiences to try
Escape from Camp Elon!
Join us around the (pretend) campfire and solve the mystery at Camp ÁñÁ«app¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾Èë in this student-made escape room! Race against the clock to find the evidence you need, and get out before it’s too late! Sign-up in person at Maker Takeover, starting at 4:30. First-come, first-serve. The room can fit up to 6 students, and each game will run every 30 minutes til 8:30.
Eat nitrogen ice cream
Elon Dining will be making ice cream using liquid nitrogen! Take a break from the excitement of Maker Takeover and partake in a yummy, sweet treat provided by Elon Dining!
Try the tool petting zoo
Get up close and personal with some of the hand tools at the Maker Hub at the Tool Petting Zoo. Try drilling a screw into wood, using the staple gun, and let out some aggression while hammering down a nail.
Lasso a steer
Student Jorden Carter will teach how to lasso the wooden steer he built in the Maker Hub. You can learn more about Jordan here.
Play a retro-arcade game
Jump back to the past using technology of the present with these throw-back games on a Raspberry Pi microcomputer.
Play mini-cornhole
Challenge your friends to a fun game of cornhole! This game was made using materials and tools at The Maker Hub. Learn how you can get tool training to build your very own set.
DIY crafts to make
Make a button
Create the perfect accessory for your bag or jacket with a custom-designed button with this quick and simple craft!
Make a custom sticker
Learn how to use the vinyl cutter with the help of our student staff and either pick up a Maker Hub sticker or design your own.
Make a hexagon
Decorate a hexagon to celebrate Maker Hub – Downtown’s five year birthday. You can either take your hexagon or we’ll hang it on the wall in Downtown.
